Chicago Bears is coming off a 34-7 rout of the Lions where they held Detroit to just 185 yards, the defense’s best effort in nearly two years.

If Kyle Orton, who threw for a career-high 334 yards on Sunday, can go another game without a turnover the Bears stand a good chance of leaving Atlanta with a victory.

Despite the Bears’ success through the air, coach Lovie Smith insists Chicago is a running team. Atlanta (3-2) is using a similar formula, as it ranks second in the league in rushing with 180.6 yards per game.

Last week for their week six game the Atlanta Falcons beat the Packers 27-24 improving to a 3-2 season record. The Falcons 2008 team leaders include; quarterback Matt Ryan completing 71 passes on 131 attempts for 863 yards with four touchdowns, running back Michael Turner leads in rushing with 103 carries for 543 yards with six touchdowns and wide receiver Roddy White leads in receiving with 26 reception for 454 yards with two touchdowns. for the 2007 season the Atlanta Falcons finished in last place in the NFC South division with a 4-12 regular season record.

While Ryan has looked poised in Atlanta’s victories, he has been unable to get comfortable when the running game struggles.

Turner leads the league in rushing yards (543) and touchdowns (six), but has been limited to only 98 yards on 32 carries in the two losses. He is averaging 148.3 yards and has scored all his TDs in the wins.

Ryan has completed 45.9 percent of his passes for 316 yards and two interceptions in Atlanta’s two losses, compared to completing 64.9 percent of his passes for 547 yards, four touchdowns and one pick in the wins.

Turner may have trouble against a Bears team that limited Detroit to 54 rushing yards last week and ranks fourth in the league in rushing defense (74.2). Ryan may also find himself under pressure, as Chicago’s recorded seven sacks in its last two games.

The Chicago Bears have won three straight and eight of the last nine meetings with the Atlanta Falcons and, on paper, this game looks pretty evenly matched with a slight edge going to the Bears.
